Creating Safe School Events Music Act

SB 919, the Safe School Events Music Act, bans songs with explicit language (including profanity, sexual content, or references to illegal drugs) at West Virginia school sports events. The bill requires the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC) to create rules for enforcement, including penalties like fines or loss of postseason rights for violations. This applies to all music played at WVSSAC-sanctioned athletic events, such as during warm-ups, halftime, or pep band performances.
