Chase COVID Unemployment Fraud Act of 2022 This bill addresses fraud and overpayments of pandemic unemployment assistance, including by allowing states to retain a specified percentage of recovered funds and prohibiting the Department of Labor from allowing blanket waivers of overpayments.

HR 7987: DEFEND Act of 2022

Deterring Enemy Forces and Enabling National Defenses Act of 2022 or the DEFEND Act of 2022 This bill requires the Department of Defense to seek to cooperate with Middle East allies and partners (i.e., countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and other countries in the region as appropriate) to identify and develop an approach for such allies and partners to implement an integrated air and missile defense capability to protect against attacks from Iran and groups linked to Iran.

S 4062: HOUSES Act of 2022

Helping Open Underutilized Space to Ensure Shelter Act of 2022 or the HOUSES Act of 2022 This bill authorizes the sale of certain federal land to states and units of local government for projects to provide housing. Specifically, the bill authorizes a state or unit of local government to nominate, for consideration for conveyance by the Department of the Interior, one or more tracts of public lands within the boundary of the state or unit of local government to carry out an eligible project to provide housing. Interior may not offer to convey to a unit of local government such a tract until it receives from the governor of the state approval for the conveyance. Interior may not convey to a state or unit of local government such a tract until the state or unit of local government has in effect any ordinances, statutes, or regulations that are necessary to ensure compliance with the project proposal.

S 4351: Enhanced Access to Affordable Medicines Act of 2022

Enhanced Access to Affordable Medicines Act of 2022 This bill specifies that the Food and Drug Administration may approve generic drugs with different labels than the brand-name versions if, among other requirements, a revised label for the brand-name drug is approved within 90 days of when the generic is otherwise eligible for approval.

HR 7942: Securing Our Students Act

Securing Our Students Act This bill authorizes local educational agencies and nonpublic schools to use certain COVID-19 emergency relief funds, services, or assistance for school safety uses, that is improving school conditions for student learning by planning and designing school buildings and facilities, installing infrastructure, providing safety education, and implementing technology or other measures that strengthen security on school premises.

HR 7927: To prohibit the use of funds to propose amendments to the International Health Regulations, the Global Pandemic Treaty, or any other agreement among World Health Organization member states, and for other purposes.

This bill prohibits the federal government from proposing any agreement among World Health Organization (WHO) member states that would modify authorities under U.S. law unless the proposal is authorized in advance by an act of Congress. The bill also prohibits the federal government from providing contributions to the WHO unless the Department of State certifies that certain events have occurred, including the WHO holding China accountable for any failures to comply with the International Health Regulations adopted by the 58th World Health Assembly in 2005.

Prohibition of Agricultural Land for the People's Republic of China Act This bill requires the President to prohibit nonresident aliens, foreign businesses, and agents associated with China's government from (1) purchasing agricultural (including ranching) real estate located in the United States, or (2) participating in Department of Agriculture programs that are unrelated to food and safety regulatory requirements.

Advancing Affordable Medicines for Families Act This bill requires the Government Accountability Office to report on the potential impact of nonprofit pharmaceutical organizations on the availability and cost of drugs as well as such organizations' potential to accelerate development of new drugs, generic drugs, new biological products, biosimilar products, cell-based therapies, and medical devices.

No WHO Pandemic Preparedness Treaty Without Senate Approval Act This bill establishes that any convention or agreement on pandemic-related issues reached by the World Health Assembly (WHA) pursuant to a specified negotiating body shall be deemed to be a treaty requiring the advice and consent of the Senate. Specifically, this bill applies to any international instrument negotiated by the intergovernmental negotiating body established by the WHA in December 2021 to strengthen pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response.

S 3693: Upper Colorado and San Juan River Basins Recovery Act

Upper Colorado and San Juan River Basins Recovery Act This bill extends through FY2024 the authority of the Department of the Interior to implement capital projects (i.e., construction of facilities) for the endangered fish recovery programs for the Upper Colorado and San Juan river basins. The bill raises the ceiling on costs for the Recovery Implementation Program for Endangered Fish Species in the Upper Colorado River Basin and lowers the ceiling on costs for the San Juan River Recovery Implementation Program. The bill also extends through FY2022 the deadline for the submission of the report on the recovery implementation programs.

S 4262: Formula Act of 2022

Formula Act of 2022 This bill temporarily provides duty-free treatment to infant formula imported from countries meeting certain standards. The bill also makes formula imported under this bill eligible for purchase using benefits received under the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The Department of Agriculture may modify or waive certain qualified administrative requirements related to infant formula.
