This resolution expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the U.S. Postal Service should continue door delivery for all customers.
This resolution (1) encourages all individuals in the United States during Black History Month to celebrate U.S. history and the important accomplishments and contributions of African Americans, and (2) expresses appreciation for the contributions of and sacrifices made by the soldiers of the Women's Army Corps assigned to the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion during World War II.
This resolution expresses support for the designation of National Cancer Prevention Day.
United Nations Voting Accountability Act of 2021 This bill prohibits giving assistance, such as various types of economic support or military training, to countries that opposed U.S. positions on more than 50% of the recorded votes in the most recent United Nations session. A country may be exempted if there has been a fundamental change in the country's leadership and policies and the Department of State determines that the country will no longer oppose the U.S. position. The President may also exempt a country for U.S. national security interests.
No Sanctions Relief for Terrorists Act This bill requires the President, before providing specified sanctions relief to an Iranian person that is on the list of specially designated nationals and blocked persons, to certify to Congress that the person has ceased involvement in terrorism.
Clean Start: Back to Work Tax Credit Act This bill allows employers a business related tax credit for 50% of the cost of qualified cleaning expenses incurred in a trade or business or with respect to owning or operating commercial real estate. The credit may not exceed $250,000 for any taxpayer in a taxable year and it terminates after March 31, 2022. The bill defines qualified cleaning expenses as amounts paid for cleaning services, cleaning products, tools, machinery, technology systems, personal protective equipment, and for obtaining a certification in cleaning.
COVID-19 Diaper Assistance Act This bill provides additional funding for FY2021 for the Social Services Block Grant to provide diapers, wipes, and other diapering supplies to families in need. This grant is a flexible funding stream used by states and territories to support a wide range of social services.
This bill requires states receiving grants for child abuse or neglect prevention and treatment to conduct family assessments and use a risk-based approach in addressing the needs of families with infants born with, and identified as being affected by, substance use or withdrawal symptoms, or related conditions. Further, the Children's Bureau of the Administration for Children & Families must provide guidance and technical assistance with respect to these requirements.
Dr. Li Wenliang Congressional Gold Medal Act This bill directs Congress to make arrangements for the posthumous presentation of a gold medal in commemoration of Dr. Li Wenliang's efforts to save lives by drawing awareness to COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) and his call for transparency in China.
No Social Security for Illegal Aliens Act of 2021 This bill prohibits an individual from collecting Social Security benefits based on wages and income earned for services illegally performed in the United States while the individual was an alien.
Students and Families Empowerment Act This bill expands tax deductions and grace periods that apply to student loan payments. The bill modifies the tax deduction for interest on education loans to replace the dollar limitation and the limitation based on modified adjusted gross income with a $750,000 limit ($1.5 million in the case of a joint return) on the aggregate amount of qualified education loans that may be taken into account for the deduction. The bill excludes from gross income the discharge of any student loan debt pursuant to income contingent and income-based repayment plans under the Higher Education Act of 1965. The bill extends from 6 months to 12 months (1) the grace period before payment must begin on Federal Direct Stafford Loans and Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loans after the student ceases to carry at least one-half of the normal full-time academic workload, and (2) the deferment periods for parent borrowers and graduate or professional student borrowers with Federal Direct PLUS Loans. The bill prohibits interest from accruing on a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan or a Federal Direct PLUS Loan during the 12-month extension or deferral period.
Ensuring American Voters Act of 2021 This bill prohibits states from registering an individual to vote in federal elections unless the individual provides documentary proof of U.S. citizenship.
