Ensuring Seniors' Access to COVID Treatments Act This bill requires prescription drug plans under Medicare and Medicare Advantage to cover drugs that are approved to treat COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) without cost-sharing during the public health emergency.
Vaccine Fairness Act This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide weekly reports to Congress concerning the distribution of COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) vaccines to the public. HHS must also make publicly available certain data on the number of vaccine doses administered.
Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act of 2021 This bill requires the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to allow an individual to possess a firearm at a Corps water resources development project as long as the individual's possession of the firearm is in compliance with the law of the state in which the project is located.
Infection Control Training and Support Act of 2021 This bill provides funds to support the development and distribution of protocols to control COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) in Medicare skilled nursing facilities.
Ensuring Transparent Honest Information on COVID-19 Act or the ETHIC Act This bill retroactively requires states and other jurisdictions to report specified COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) data to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a condition of receiving certain COVID-19 funding. The bill also requires the Department of Health and Human Services to commission a study from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine on public health data infrastructure.
COVID-19 Supply Chain Resiliency Act of 2021 This bill establishes the Office of COVID-19 Supply Chain Resiliency to identify and address supply chain issues related to the COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic. Specifically, the office must establish a national strategy to address identified supply chain issues related to the pandemic, serve as a central point of contact for and provide technical assistance to entities dealing with these issues, and develop legislative recommendations to strengthen critical supply chains for pandemics. The office shall cease to exist 18 months after the COVID-19 public health emergency (and any renewal thereof) is terminated.
Seniors Fraud Prevention Act of 20 21 This bill directs the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to establish an office within the Bureau of Consumer Protection to advise the FTC on preventing fraud targeting seniors and to assist the FTC in monitoring the market for mail, television, internet, telemarketing, and recorded message telephone call (robocall) fraud targeting seniors. The office must (1) disseminate to seniors and their families and caregivers information about the most common fraud schemes, including methods of reporting complaints either to the FTC's national toll-free telephone number or to the FTC's Consumer Sentinel Network, where complaints become immediately available to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, state attorneys general, and other appropriate law enforcement agencies; (2) provide, in response to a specific request about a particular entity or individual, publicly available information regarding the FTC's enforcement action; and (3) maintain a website as a resource for information on fraud targeting seniors.
Renewable Energy Certainty Act This bill authorizes long-term contracts for federal purchases of renewable energy and establishes related requirements. Specifically, the bill authorizes federal agencies to enter into contracts for the acquisition of energy generated from renewable energy sources or from cogeneration facilities for a period of up to 30 years. In addition, the bill requires the Federal Energy Management Program to publish a standardized energy purchase agreement that an agency may use for such an acquisition.
Telecommunications Skilled Workforce Act This bill establishes measures to address the workforce needs of the telecommunications industry. Specifically, the bill requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish an interagency working group to develop recommendations for addressing these workforce needs. The FCC must also establish and issue guidance on how states can meet the workforce needs of the telecommunications industry, including guidance on how a state workforce development board can (1) utilize federal resources available to meet telecommunications industry workforce needs; and (2) promote and improve recruitment in qualified industry-led workforce development programs, including the Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program. The Government Accountability Office must submit to Congress a report that estimates the number of skilled telecommunications workers that will be required to build and maintain (1) broadband infrastructure in rural areas, and (2) the 5G wireless infrastructure needed to support 5G wireless technology.
IoT Readiness Act of 2021 This bill requires the Federal Communications Commission to ascertain the amount of spectrum necessary to meet rising demand by studying the growing usage of Internet of Things devices (i.e., devices that use a network to communicate and share data with other devices) and devices that utilize 5G networks.
This resolution calls on the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee to support human rights and boycott the 2022 Winter Olympics if it is held in China. The resolution also expresses support for the committee's athletes, coaches, and personnel.
This joint resolution nullifies the action of the District of Columbia Council in approving the Minor Consent for Vaccinations Amendment Act of 2020, enacted by the council on December 23, 2020, and transmitted on February 1, 2021, to Congress pursuant to the District of Columbia Home Rule Act. The act authorizes a minor, 11 years of age or older, to consent to receive a vaccine if the minor is capable of meeting the informed consent standard and the vaccine is recommended by the United States Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and will be provided in accordance with its recommended immunization schedule.
