HRES 196: Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives regarding the importance of taking a feminist approach to all aspects of foreign policy, including foreign assistance and humanitarian response, trade, diplomacy, defense, immigration, funding, and accountability mechanisms.

This resolution supports the goals of a feminist foreign policy (i.e., a foreign policy that requires analysis of and challenges to power structures and inequalities that are based on systems of discrimination), and it supports the adoption of policies that promote gender equity and women's participation in public life.

HRES 193: Recognizing the contributions of AmeriCorps members and alumni and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers to the lives of the people of the United States.

This resolution encourages (1) the people of the United States to join in a national effort to salute AmeriCorps members, alumni, and Americorps Seniors volunteers and to raise awareness about the importance of national and community service; and (2) all individuals to consider opportunities to serve in AmeriCorps and Americorps Seniors. The resolution also acknowledges the accomplishments of AmeriCorps members, alumni, community partners, and Americorps Seniors volunteers and recognizes their important contributions to the lives of the people of the United States.

HRES 197: Expressing the sense of the Congress with respect to the export of COVID-19 vaccines to foreign countries.

This resolution expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States should not export COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) vaccines to foreign countries until every eligible U.S. national and permanent resident who wishes to receive the vaccine is fully vaccinated.

S 590: CONFUCIUS Act

Concerns Over Nations Funding University Campus Institutes in the United States Act or the CONFUCIUS Act This bill addresses China's influence on postsecondary educational institutions through Confucius Institutes, which are cultural institutes directly or indirectly funded by the Chinese government. Specifically, the bill establishes requirements for postsecondary educational institutions that receive federal funding and that have contracts or agreements with Confucius Institutes. The contracts or agreements must include clear provisions that (1) protect the academic freedom of the institutions; (2) prohibit the application of foreign law on the institutions' campuses; and (3) grant full managerial authority of the institutes to the institutions, including full control over teaching plans, activities, research grants, and employment decisions.

HR 1645: Protecting Consumer Access to Credit Act

Protecting Consumer Access to Credit Act This bill revises requirements related to credit reporting agencies and the reporting of adverse credit information. Credit reporting agencies are prohibited from using social security numbers in credit reports and as a method of verifying a consumer's identity. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau must supervise and examine the cybersecurity of certain credit reporting agencies. The bill prohibits a credit reporting agency from reporting paid, medically-necessary debt if the debt was paid over a year prior. A credit reporting agency is also prohibited from reporting certain adverse credit information related to financial abuse, unfair or fraudulent mortgage lending, or fraudulent private student lending. The bill extends the time credit reporting agencies have to place a credit security freeze when receiving such a request by phone or through electronic means from one to three business days. It also extends the time agencies have to remove a freeze from one hour to three days.

HR 1665: Employee Profit-Sharing Encouragement Act of 2021

Employee Profit-Sharing Encouragement Act of 2021 This bill denies the business tax deduction for the remuneration of highly-compensated corporate employees unless the corporation has average annual gross receipts of less than $25 million and maintains a plan for making qualified profit-sharing distributions to its employees. The bill defines qualified profit-sharing distributions as cash distributions under a written employer plan that gives employees who have been employed for at least one year a right to profit-sharing distributions and bases the amount of such distributions on the measure of the receipts, profit, revenues, or earnings of the employer.

HR 1632: To prohibit the transfer or release of individuals detained at United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to the United States.

This bill prohibits any department or agency from using funds to transfer or release within the United States (including its territories or possessions) any detainee (1) who is not a U.S. citizen or member of the U.S. Armed Forces, and (2) who is or was held by the Department of Defense at United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, on or after January 20, 2009.

HR 1633: Public Service Loan Forgiveness Inclusion Act of 2021

Public Service Loan Forgiveness Inclusion Act of 2021 This bill allows the first 60 monthly payments made by a borrower under a graduated repayment or extended repayment plan to become qualifying payments under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. However, the borrower must transfer to an eligible repayment plan, such as an income-based or standard repayment plan, for the remaining 60 monthly payments made under the PSLF program.
