HR 1938: National Guard Housing Equity Act

National Guard Housing Equity Act This bill provides for an equal housing allowance for members of a reserve component who perform active service for more than 30 consecutive days under multiple calls or orders that are for 30 days or less. Specifically, such members must be paid the same basic housing allowance as members of a reserve component who are called or ordered to active service for a period of more than 30 days.

HR 1947: Ensuring a Long-Term Housing Recovery Act of 2021

Ensuring a Long-Term Housing Recovery Act of 2021 This bill increases the authorization of appropriations for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide additional rental housing choice voucher assistance. This assistance may be used for rent, utilities (including internet service), related debt, fees, deposits, and landlord incentive payments. The bill authorizes HUD to waive certain requirements related to this additional assistance. In addition, the bill extends HUD's existing authority to waive requirements related to this assistance program and other programs that HUD administers.

HR 1950: No Pensions for Corrupt Politicians Act of 2021

No Pensions for Corrupt Politicians Act of 2021 This bill makes a Member of Congress who has been convicted of a crime related to public corruption ineligible to receive certain retirement payments between the date of sentencing and the date of final conviction. Such retirement payments are those made under the Civil Service Retirement System or the Federal Employees' Retirement System based on the individual's service as a Member. Under current law, a Member must forgo receipt of these payments only after a final conviction (i.e., after the exhaustion of all appeals under the judicial process). The bill eliminates these payments to a Member from the date of sentencing for the conviction.

Presidential Records Preservation Act This bill directs the President to make and preserve records containing adequate and proper documentation of' presidential activities, deliberations, decisions, and policies, including establishing records management controls to capture, manage, and preserve electronic messages and ensure that such messages are readily accessible for retrieval through electronic searches.

HR 1928: Preventing Sexual Abuse of K–12 Students Act of 2021

Preventing Sexual Abuse of K-12 Students Act of 2021 This bill requires sexual abuse awareness training in elementary and secondary schools. Specifically, the bill requires states receiving federal elementary and secondary education funds to establish and implement a statewide policy requiring each local educational agency to (1) develop codes of conduct to prevent sexual abuse of students by identifying acceptable and unacceptable behavior for school personnel and students; and (2) ensure that school personnel receive specified training, including training on sexual abuse and misconduct awareness and prevention. In addition, the bill expands the allowable uses for certain grants (e.g., Student Support and Academic Enrichment grants) to include sexual abuse awareness training. Finally, the Department of Education must make recommendations to Congress for preventing the sexual abuse of elementary and secondary school students.

HR 1912: Keep College Students Learning Act

Keep College Students Learning Act This bill requires covered institutions of higher education to ensure that prospective and enrolled students may use their financial aid for enrollment purposes, regardless of whether the student delays enrollment or takes a leave of absence for up to one academic year during the COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic. Covered institution of higher education refers to an institution that receives federal funds and offers in-person instruction at levels less than the first semester (or the equivalent) of the 2019-2020 academic year.

HR 1933: END ALL Hazing Act

Educational Notification and Disclosure of Actions risking Loss of Life by Hazing Act or the END ALL Hazing Act This bill requires institutions of higher education (IHEs) that participate in federal student-aid programs to collect information and publicly report on hazing-related misconduct. Specifically, IHEs must prepare biannual reports and post the reports on their websites. The reports must include information on hazing-related misconduct committed by a student organization, including the name of the student organization that committed the violation, a description of the violation, and sanctions placed on the organization. Further, IHEs must report to campus police and law enforcement authorities within 72 hours of becoming aware of any allegation of hazing that involved serious bodily injury or a significant risk of serious bodily injury. The bill does not apply to foreign IHEs.

HR 1903: Rural Education Investment Act

Rural Education Investment Act This bill requires the Department of Education (ED) to annually determine the percentage of students in kindergarten through grade 12 who are served by local educational agencies (LEAs) located in rural areas. ED must then reserve at least an equal percentage of Teacher Quality Partnership grants for partnerships with such LEAs.

HR 1932: Report and Educate About Campus Hazing Act

Report and Educate About Campus Hazing Act or the REACH Act This bill requires institutions of higher education (IHEs) that participate in federal student-aid programs to report hazing incidents and distribute policies on hazing. Specifically, the bill requires each IHE to disclose hazing incidents that were reported to campus security authorities or local police agencies in its annual security report. The bill defines the term hazing to mean any intentional, knowing, or reckless act committed by a student, or a former student, of an IHE against another student (regardless of that student's willingness to participate), that (1) is connected with an initiation into, an affiliation with, or the maintenance of membership in an organization that is affiliated with the IHE (e.g., an athletic team); and (2) contributes to a substantial risk of physical injury, mental harm, or degradation or causes physical injury, mental harm, or personal degradation. In addition, each IHE must distribute to enrolled and prospective students its policies on hazing, including information on education programs that promote hazing awareness.

HR 1900: Coronavirus Front-Line Responders Commemorative Coin Act

Coronavirus Front-Line Responders Commemorative Coin Act This bill directs the Department of the Treasury to mint and issue up to 50,000 $5 gold coins, 400,000 $1 silver coins, and 300,000 half dollar clad coins in honor and commemoration of the work of the frontline responders to the coronavirus (i.e., the virus that causes COVID-19) pandemic. All surcharges received from the sale of coins issued under this bill shall be promptly paid to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) Foundation to support the health care response to infectious diseases and pandemics.
