Eradicating Narcotic Drugs and Formulating Effective New Tools to Address National Yearly Losses of life Act or the END FENTANYL Act This bill requires U.S. Customs and Border Protection to review and update, as necessary, manuals and policies related to inspections at ports of entry to ensure the uniformity of inspection practices to effectively detect illegal activity along the border, such as the smuggling of drugs and humans.

S 3429: Alaska Salmon Research Task Force Act

Alaska Salmon Research Task Force Act This bill requires the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to convene an Alaska Salmon Research Task Force. The task force must review and report on research about the Pacific salmon in Alaska, identify applied research needed to better understand salmon migration and declining salmon returns in some regions of Alaska, and support sustainable management of salmon.

S 2135: Identifying and Eliminating Wasteful Programs Act

Identifying and Eliminating Wasteful Programs Act This bill requires each federal agency to compile a list of unnecessary programs. Specifically, each agency must compile a list of such programs, based on guidance provided by the Office of Management and Budget, that are unnecessary, defunct, or unnecessarily duplicative federal programs; another agency could administer more effectively; or could operate more effectively if the program or activity were consolidated with other programs or activities. Additionally, the President must include the list of identified programs or program activities in the annual budget submitted to Congress. An agency may submit to Congress recommendations for statutory changes to eliminate or consolidate programs or program activities identified in the list.

S 1143: No TikTok on Government Devices Act

No TikTok on Government Devices Act This bill requires the social media video application TikTok to be removed from the information technology of federal agencies. Specifically, the bill requires the Office of Management and Budget to develop standards for executive agencies that require TikTok and any successor application from the developer to be removed from agency information technology (e.g., devices). Such standards must include exceptions for law enforcement activities, national security interests, and security researchers.

HR 8393: Puerto Rico Status Act

Puerto Rico Status Act This bill provides for a plebiscite to be held on November 5, 2023, to resolve Puerto Rico's political status. Specifically, such plebiscite shall offer eligible voters a choice of independence, sovereignty in free association with the United States, or statehood. The Puerto Rico State Elections Commission shall carry out a nonpartisan voter education campaign through traditional paid media and make available at all voting locations voter education materials related to the plebiscites, and invite national and international election observers to ensure transparency and confidence in the electoral process. All voter educational materials and ballots used to carry out this bill shall be made available in English and Spanish. The bill sets forth transition and implementation provisions for each choice offered in the plebiscite.

This bill authorizes the government of France to establish a commemorative work on federal land in the District of Columbia to honor the contributions of Jean Monnet in restoring peace between European nations and establishing the European Union. Such government shall be responsible for the acceptance of contributions for, and the payment of the expenses of, the establishment and maintenance of the commemorative work. Federal funds may not be used to pay any expense for the establishment of the commemorative work. The commemorative work shall be established in accordance with the Commemorative Works Act, with exceptions.

FEMA Caseworker Accountability Act This bill directs the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to report to Congress on case management personnel turnover at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Specifically, the GAO must report on the turnover rate for FEMA case management personnel, the average and median length of employment for such personnel, the steps that FEMA is taking or plans to take to lower the turnover rate, the number of FEMA personnel detailed to work disaster recovery, and personnel rotations.
