SB 507: Municipal Government - As introduced, requires the mayor and chief law enforcement officer of a municipality to submit an oath to the comptroller of the treasury committing to assist the United States in the enforcement of all criminal and immigration laws in order for the municipality to continue to receive its allocation of the state sales tax; violators will lose such allocation for the longer of 12 months or until a new signed oath is received. - Amends TCA Section 67-6-103.

SB 966: Safety - As introduced, requires TACIR to study and report on the feasibility and costs of providing greater access to mobile communications systems in rural Tennessee for elementary and secondary school personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and first responders; requires TACIR to report its findings to the governor and speakers of the senate and house of representatives on or before January 1, 2018. - Amends TCA Title 4; Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 9 and Title 65.

SB 743: Motor Vehicles - As introduced, authorizes a lessee of private property who holds a disabled parking placard or plate to provide authorization to a towing firm to tow a vehicle that is parked in a disabled parking space without displaying a placard or plate, under certain circumstances. - Amends TCA Title 55, Chapter 16 and Title 55, Chapter 21.

SB 1256: Scholarships and Financial Aid - As introduced, awards one hour of community service credit to a recipient of the Tennessee Promise Scholarship for each hour that the recipient volunteers with the Keep Tennessee Beautiful program, which is sponsored by the department of transportation; requires TSAC to promulgate by rule the documentation that the student must obtain from the Keep Tennessee Beautiful program in order to obtain community service credit. - Amends TCA Title 49.
