HB 475: Local Education Agencies - As introduced, requires the office of research and education accountability (OREA) in the office of the comptroller of the treasury to study and report to the education committees of the senate and house of representatives on the issue of electing a director of schools versus allowing the local board of education to appoint the director of schools. - Amends TCA Title 49.

SB 737: Consumer Protection - As enacted, adds "advertising services for the provision of a motor vehicle warranty in a deceptive manner likely to cause the owner to believe that the advertisement originated from the original manufacturer of the motor vehicle or from the dealer that sold the motor vehicle" as a violation of the Consumer Protection Act of 1977. - Amends TCA Title 47, Chapter 18 and Title 55.

SB 209: Veterans - As enacted, authorizes private employers to give hiring preference to honorably discharged veterans, spouses of veterans with service-connected disabilities, unremarried widows or widowers of veterans who died of service-connected disabilities, and unremarried widows or widowers of members of the military who died in the line of duty. - Amends TCA Title 50, Chapter 1, Part 1.

SB 499: Education, Higher - As introduced, provides a student enrolled at an institution of higher education or student organization officially recognized by an institution of higher education with a right to representation by an attorney or non-attorney advocate at the student or organization’s expense; prohibits the student or student organization from the right to representation if the institution has a student honor court or in instances of academic dishonesty; requires institutions of higher education to provide an annual report about the number and type of disciplinary hearings as well as the number of students represented by an attorney or non-attorney advocate. - Amends TCA Title 49, Chapter 8 and Title 49, Chapter 9.
