SB 2768: Sentencing - As introduced, reduces the percentage of sentence that a person convicted of first degree murder on or after July 1, 1995, and sentenced to life imprisonment is required to serve before becoming eligible for release from 100 percent of 60 years less sentence credits earned and retained to 60 percent of 60 years less sentence credits earned and retained; prohibits a defendant becoming eligible for parole before serving 25 years of the sentence, if the defendant was 25 years of age or younger at the time of the offense, or 30 years of the sentence, if the defendant was 26 years of age or older at the time of the offense. - Amends TCA Title 37; Title 39, Chapter 13, Part 2 and Title 40.

SB 2854: Education - As introduced, clarifies that it is the commissioner of safety with whom a copy of each local education agency's district-wide comprehensive safety plan and each building-level school safety plan, including all amendments to each such plan, must be filed no later than 30 days after its adoption. - Amends TCA Title 4; Title 8; Title 37; Title 49 and Title 68.

SB 2836: Firearms and Ammunition - As introduced, increases from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class C felony the offenses of unlawful purchase by or unlawful sale to a person who is prohibited by state or federal law from owning, possessing, or purchasing a firearm; prohibits the purchase or sale of ammunition by or to such a person; prohibits the transfer or sale of a firearm or ammunition to a person receiving treatment at a treatment resource for mental illness or serious emotional disturbance and not just when the person is receiving inpatient treatment. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13.

SB 2893: Labor and Workforce Development, Dept. of - As introduced, removes the requirement that, no later than December 31, 2021, the commissioner, or the commissioner's designee, submit to the U.S. secretary of labor and the administrator of the national office of apprenticeship, an application to recognize the Tennessee office of apprenticeship as a state apprenticeship agency pursuant to federal law. - Amends TCA Title 4; Title 8 and Title 50.
