SB 531: Children's Services, Dept. of - As introduced, requires the department to maintain staffing to allow case managers to have no more than 20 open cases, rather than an average of 20 active cases; states that a "person residing in the child's home" includes a person living in a residential setting with a child who is in the custody of the department for purposes of reporting, investigating, and treating child sexual abuse. - Amends TCA Title 37.

SB 536: Child Abuse - As introduced, adds, for purposes of juvenile court proceedings and termination of parental rights proceedings, certain offenses to those that constitute severe child abuse if the act was committed toward the child or there was a knowing failure to protect the child from the commission of the act toward the child. - Amends TCA Title 36, Chapter 1 and Title 37, Chapter 1.

SB 556: Teachers, Principals and School Personnel - As introduced, requires the department of education to establish a fund to reimburse educators in an amount equal to the cost of an assessment required for licensure if the educator receives a qualifying score on the required assessment and receives a license to teach in this state or an endorsement while currently employed by a local education agency or public charter school. - Amends TCA Title 49, Chapter 5, Part 56.

SB 655: Children - As introduced, adds, as a condition to a court permitting a dependent or neglected child under three years of age to remain with the child's parent, guardian, or other custodian, a requirement that the parent, guardian, or other custodian submit to the department of children's services documentation of a well-baby routine examination by a licensed physician at certain intervals if the child has been diagnosed with neonatal abstinence syndrome. - Amends TCA Title 37; Title 39; Title 68 and Title 71.
