HR 5793: Eastern Flank Strategic Partnership Act of 2025

The Eastern Flank Strategic Partnership Act of 2025 designates Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia as "Eastern Flank strategic defense partners" due to their geographic proximity to Russia and Belarus, defense spending commitments, and role in hosting NATO forces. It requires the U.S. State and Defense Departments to prioritize these nations for security assistance, including Foreign Military Financing, defense articles transfers, and military exercises. The bill also directs the Defense Department to prioritize stockpiling defense equipment in these countries through the War Reserve Stocks for Allies program. HR 5786: White House NOT FOR SALE Act

This bill requires congressional and White House approval before any corporate or individual name, logo, or advertisement can be displayed on the White House grounds or in its buildings. It blocks permanent or semi-permanent displays (like plaques or signage) without consent from the House Speaker, Minority Leader, and White House Curator. The law applies to all White House grounds and structures, preventing unsanctioned commercial endorsements or sponsorships. Existing rules for commemorative monuments (under the Commemorative Works Act) would still govern approved displays.

S 3013: Secure Commercial Driver Licensing Act of 2025

This bill requires all commercial driver's license (CDL) testing - including knowledge tests, entry-level training, and third-party assessments - to be conducted solely in English. It also mandates that new CDL applicants must hold a standard driver's license for at least one year before applying for a CDL, though current CDL holders are exempt. States issuing non-domiciled CDLs (licenses to non-residents) risk losing that authority if they fail to comply with these rules or federal standards. The law directly affects new commercial drivers seeking CDLs and states managing non-domiciled license programs.

S 3005: Non-Essential Workers Transparency Act

This bill requires federal agencies to report detailed payroll data when government funding lapses (a "covered period"), directly affecting employees subject to furlough during such gaps. Agencies must submit, within 30 days after the funding gap ends, specific information including total employees, salaries paid, and the number of furloughed versus non-furloughed staff. The reports are sent to congressional committees and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), which must then consolidate and publish the data publicly on its website within 60 days. The law aims to increase transparency about which workers are impacted during government shutdowns, without changing furlough policies or funding levels.

HR 5242: To repeal the Second Chance Amendment Act of 2022 and the Incarceration Reduction Amendment Act of 2016.

HR 5242 would repeal two District of Columbia laws: the Second Chance Amendment Act of 2022 (D.C. Law 24-284) and the Incarceration Reduction Amendment Act of 2016 (D.C. Law 21-36). This bill would restore the legal provisions that existed before these acts were enacted, effectively undoing their changes to D.C. criminal justice policies. Specifically, it would reverse reforms related to reducing incarceration and expanding opportunities for individuals with criminal records. The bill directly affects the District of Columbia’s legal framework governing criminal justice, not individual residents or specific programs.

HRES 799: Recognizing President Donald J. Trump's Role as a Transformational Peacemaker Whose Achievements in International Diplomacy Merit the Nobel Peace Prize.

HRES 799 is a symbolic resolution (not a law) introduced by House members recognizing former President Donald J. Trump for his claimed diplomatic achievements. It states that Trump brokered a "historic peace agreement" ending Hamas-led hostilities in Gaza, securing hostage releases and disarming Hamas, and resolved other conflicts like Israel-Iran and India-Pakistan. The resolution urges the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award Trump the Nobel Peace Prize for these actions. It has no legal effect and serves solely as a ceremonial tribute to Trump's foreign policy record.
