Stop Wrongs to Our Kids' Educational Meals (W.O.K.E.) Act of 2022 This bill repeals Executive Order 13988, titled Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation , that directs federal agencies to review all policies that implement non-discrimination protections on the basis of sex and extend such protections to the categories of gender identity and sexual orientation. The bill also prohibits the Department of Agriculture from requiring state or local agencies, program operators, or sponsors that participate in the school meal programs to (1) investigate allegations of discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation, or (2) update non-discrimination policies and signage to include prohibitions against discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation.
Veterans Equal Access Act This bill directs the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to authorize VA health care providers to (1) provide veterans with recommendations and opinions regarding participation in their state's marijuana programs, and (2) complete forms reflecting such recommendations and opinions.
Stop Child Abuse Act This bill nullifies the executive order titled Advancing Equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Individuals , which was issued on June 15, 2022. The order directed several executive agencies to establish initiatives that support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex individuals in a variety of settings, including health care, education, housing, and social services.
Save America’s Forgotten Equines Act of 2021 or the SAFE Act of 2021 This bill prohibits the transporting, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donation by a person of an equine (e.g., horse) that the person has reason to believe will be slaughtered for human consumption.
This resolution sets forth the rule for consideration of H.R. 1011 (Life at Conception Act), which declares that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human being at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual comes into being.
Informing Grandfamilies Act This bill requires states to notify kinship caregivers (e.g., grandparents or other relatives caring for a minor child) about (1) the care and placement options under federal, state, and local laws; (2) the requirements to become a foster family home; (3) whether the state has elected to make guardianship assistance payments; and (4) other policies under the state program that may assist such caregivers.
Empower Parents to Protect Their Kids Act of 2022 This bill prohibits an elementary or secondary school from receiving federal funds unless the school complies with specified requirements related to parental consent and student gender identity. Among other requirements, school employees may not withhold information from parents about a minor student's gender transition or gender identity. The Department of Justice or a parent or guardian may bring a civil action against a school for violations.
Political Bias In Algorithm Sorting Emails Act of 2022 or the Political BIAS Emails Act of 2022 This bill makes it unlawful for commercial email service providers to use a filtering algorithm to apply a label to an email sent to an email account from a political campaign unless the owner or user of the account took action to apply such label.
This resolution expresses that the House of Representatives supports the designation of National Tire Safety Week; expresses strong support for the goals and ideals of National Tire Safety Week and efforts to reduce tire-related accidents, fatalities, and injuries; and encourages the people of the United States to participate in National Tire Safety Week events and activities and educate themselves and others on the importance of regularly inspecting and maintaining a vehicle's tires.
Educational Choice for Children Act This bill allows individuals and corporations a new tax credit after 2022 for charitable contributions to tax-exempt organizations that provide scholarships to elementary and secondary school students. Such students must be members of a household with incomes not greater 300% of the area median gross income and be eligible to enroll in a public elementary or secondary school. The bill excludes from the gross income of taxpayer dependents any scholarship amount for the elementary or secondary education expenses of eligible students. It also prohibits governmental control over scholarship granting organizations.
The Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance Act of 2022 establishes a federal grant program administered by the Secretary of Commerce to fund coordinated sea turtle rescue efforts along U.S. coasts. It provides $5 million annually (2023-2028) for grants to organizations that rescue, rehabilitate, and study stranded marine turtles, prioritizing groups with proven experience in these activities. Grants cover recovery, medical care, data collection, and facility costs directly tied to rescuing turtles, with funds distributed equitably based on historical stranding rates and conservation needs in designated coastal regions. Expanding Trade Sanctions on Russia Act This bill prohibits the importation of certain products from Russia. This prohibition applies to, among other products, uranium, plywood, silver, and platinum. The President may waive this prohibition for one or more of these products, subject to congressional disapproval, if the President certifies that such waiver is in the national interest. Additionally, the President may terminate this prohibition, subject to congressional disapproval, if the President certifies that Russia (1) has reached an agreement to withdraw Russian forces and cease military hostilities in Ukraine, (2) poses no immediate military threat of aggression to any North Atlantic Treaty Organization member, and (3) recognizes the right of the Ukrainian people to independently and freely choose their own government.
