HB 2646: Relating to the disclosure of private information.

HB 2646 creates a new crime for unlawfully disclosing someone's private information with the intent to stalk, harass, or injure them. It directly affects individuals who share specific personal details - like home addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, or a child's school - without consent, causing actual harm such as stalking, injury, or severe harassment. The law defines "personal information" broadly and specifies that disclosure must be intentional, non-consensual, and result in harm to be punishable. Violations are classified as Class B misdemeanors, carrying penalties of up to six months in jail, a $2,500 fine, or both. This bill targets malicious privacy breaches, not accidental disclosures or general data sharing.
