SB 430: Relating to permanent physical injury.

Establishes procedure for charging aggravated version of certain assault and attempted murder offenses when defendant causes permanent physical injury to victim during commission of crime. Provides that if defendant is convicted of aggravated offense, court shall sentence defendant to 300 months' imprisonment. Authorizes court to impose lesser sentence in certain circumstances.

SB 735: Relating to controlled substances; providing that this Act shall be referred to the people for their approval or rejection.

Restores offense levels for unlawful possession of controlled substance offenses to levels that existed prior to enactment of House Bill 2355 (2017) and Drug Addiction Treatment and Recovery Act of 2020 (Ballot Measure 110 (2020)). Refers Act to people for their approval or rejection at next regular general election.

SB 74: Relating to the Department of the Oregon Public Safety Reserve Force.

Establishes Department of the Oregon Public Safety Reserve Force to employ retired law enforcement officers and corrections officers and law enforcement officers and corrections officers from other states to serve in reserve force for local law enforcement units and Department of Corrections. Requires employment contracts for reserve force officers to expire no later than December 31, 2030.

SB 550: Relating to computer science education; declaring an emergency.

Directs Department of Education, in consultation with STEM Investment Council, to develop statewide, long-term strategic plan to provide computer science education. Requires department to coordinate with council to submit annual report on computer science education to interim committee of Legislative Assembly related to education. Establishes computer science as subject for which department must provide academic content standards. Requires school districts and public charter schools to offer students courses in computer science. Declares emergency, effective on passage.

SB 239: Relating to public charter schools; prescribing an effective date.

Allows post-secondary institution of education to be sponsor of public charter school. Modifies proposal requirements for public charter school and process for reviewing proposal. Extends length of initial and renewed charter terms. Increases percentage of students who may enroll in virtual public charter school before approval is required for student to enroll. Takes effect on 91st day following adjournment sine die.

SB 706: Relating to school access.

Allows student who is resident of state to attend any public school of state. Requires student to receive consent from school district to attend schools of school district if student is nonresident student. Requires school district to give consent, with limited exceptions. Prohibits school districts from charging tuition or entering into contracts for admission for nonresident students. Removes cap on percentage of students from school districts who may attend certain virtual public charter schools. Prohibits school districts and children's facilities from requiring immunization or disclosure of student's medical history as condition of student attending school or facility.
