SB 495 modifies Oklahoma court procedures for child custody cases involving allegations of child abuse or domestic violence. It requires courts to hold a hearing within 60 days to determine such allegations, and protects parents acting in good faith to protect children based on reasonable beliefs from losing custody or visitation. If abuse is proven, the court must award sole custody to the non-offending parent and suspend unsupervised visitation for the abusive parent. The bill also prohibits courts from refusing to consider additional evidence of abuse later in the case and allows awarding costs to the non-offending parent.
