Income tax; providing credit for marriage. Effective date.
SB 204 creates a new Oklahoma income tax credit for married couples based on their length of marriage, effective for tax year 2025. The credit amount ranges from $500 to $2,000 annually depending on marriage duration: $500-$2,000 for joint filers (or half that for separate filers) for marriages lasting 1-5 years, 6-10 years, 11-15 years, or 16+ years. To claim the credit, taxpayers must submit marriage documentation and attest under penalty of perjury that their marriage is continuous. Unused credit can be carried forward for up to five years, but the credit is nonrefundable and nontransferable.
