Requires the prosecutor to report convictions of certain persons subject to the office of professional medical conduct to the court after conviction and prior to sentencing.
This bill allows people who are currently receiving hospice care to enroll in managed long-term care plans without losing their existing benefits. It ensures that individuals can choose hospice services under Medicare or Medicaid while remaining in a managed long-term care program, rather than being forced to leave that program. To support this change, the bill requires state agencies to create rules for better communication and shared care planning between hospice providers and long-term care administrators. Additionally, these programs must exchange necessary information to ensure that patients receive continuous care without unnecessary delays or disruptions.
Changes the definition of continuous supervision in relation to physical therapist assistants in both the home care setting and school setting by eliminating the joint visit requirement with the patient by the supervising licensed physical therapist and the licensed physical therapist assistant.
Prohibits adverse employment action where an employee renders first aid or emergency treatment unless it is established that such employee was grossly negligent in providing such first aid or emergency treatment.
Relates to utilization review program standards; requires use of evidence-based and peer reviewed clinical review criteria; relates to prescription drug formulary changes and pre-authorization for certain health care services.
Requires Medicaid to cover gender-affirming care regardless of federal funding; prohibits discriminatory practices by health care entities including hospitals, certain professionals, and insurers; requires insurance coverage for services or treatments for gender dysphoria or gender incongruence.
Establishes uniform definitions, standardized procedures, and uniform applications or forms, for determining a medical emergency, life-support equipment and designation of elderly, blind and disabled customers protected from termination of utility services.
Establishes the category of "qualified group practice" for medical, dental and podiatric practices that comply with certain standards and authorizes such practices to operate a malpractice prevention program.
Requires the department of corrections and community supervision to establish discharge plans and reentry services for wrongfully convicted individuals upon their discharge which includes housing needs, educational needs, employment needs, medical needs, and specific social service needs.
Allows a notice of dense breast tissue to be considered a determination of medical necessity for purposes of coverage of breast ultrasounds as recommended by a provider of mammography services.
