Requires the installation and maintenance of outdoor lithium-ion battery charging stations at multiple dwellings as part of the state uniform fire prevention and building code; prohibits charging lithium-ion batteries used in powered mobility devices inside of multiple dwellings.
Relates to rechargeable battery recycling; adds a battery used as the principal electric power source for an electric scooter or bicycle with electric assist to the definition of "rechargeable battery"; provides that a battery manufacturer may not sell, offer for sale, or distribute rechargeable batteries in the state unless the battery manufacturer is implementing or participating under an approved plan; allows a city with a population of one million or more to enforce through its own agencies.
This bill establishes a mandatory battery storage fire training program for firefighters across counties, cities, towns, villages, and fire districts. Provides that a vehicle or a combination of vehicles operated by an engine fueled primarily by means of natural gas, propane gas, or hydrogen or powered primarily by means of electric battery power may exceed certain weight limits by up to two thousand pounds.
