SB 556: Allows certain counties and cities to seek voter approval for the imposition of a property tax to employ additional police officers and firefighters based on voter approval. (BDR S-1288)

AN ACT relating to taxation; authorizing certain boards of county commissioners to recommend the imposition of a property tax to employ and equip additional sheriff's deputies for the sheriff's office or firefighters for the county fire department, or both; authorizing the governing body of certain incorporated cities to recommend the imposition of a property tax to employ and equip additional police officers or firefighters, or both; providing that a board of county commissioners or the governing body of an incorporated city is authorized to submit a question to the voters at the 2020 General Election asking whether the recommended property tax should be imposed; requiring the imposition of such a property tax that is approved by the voters; providing for the use of the proceeds of such taxes for certain purposes; providing for the expiration of the authority of a board of county commissioners and a governing body of certain incorporated cities to recommend the imposition of such taxes; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

SB 238: Revises provisions relating to marijuana. (BDR 32-133)

AN ACT relating to marijuana; authorizing the transfer of a medical marijuana establishment registration certificate and a license to operate a marijuana establishment in certain circumstances; revising provisions relating to inventory control systems; prohibiting the use of a third party by a medical marijuana dispensary or retail marijuana store to sell marijuana and related products; establishing requirements relating to the delivery of marijuana and related products to a consumer; authorizing the Attorney General to perform a study relating to the unlicensed sale of marijuana and related products in this State; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

SB 194: Establishes programs for certain persons of low-income and persons in foster care. (BDR 38-780)

AN ACT relating to public assistance; requiring the Office of the State Treasurer to establish the Individual Development Account Program under which certain persons may establish an individual development account; establishing a credit against the modified business tax for certain taxpayers or other persons; creating the Nevada Statewide Council on Financial Independence; prohibiting certain entities from considering money deposited into an individual development account by certain persons to be income under certain circumstances; requiring certain entities to ensure that instruction in financial literacy is provided to certain persons; requiring the State Treasurer to ensure that certain instruction and training is provided to a tenant of a housing project; authorizing the Board of Regents of the University of Nevada to waive certain fees and tuition for certain children placed in foster homes or in the custody of an agency which provides child welfare services; making an appropriation; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
