HR 7911: Safe at Home Act of 2022

Safe at Home Act of 2022 This bill requires the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Agriculture to issue regulations concerning inspections of federally assisted housing. In particular, the departments must jointly (1) review state and federal requirements for inspecting housing to ensure safety, habitability, and other aspects of housing quality; (2) identify the most stringent requirements; and (3) issue regulations to apply the identified requirements to certain housing programs administered by the departments.

HR 7892: Prohibition of Agricultural Land for the People’s Republic of China Act

Prohibition of Agricultural Land for the People's Republic of China Act This bill requires the President to prohibit nonresident aliens, foreign businesses, and agents associated with China's government from (1) purchasing agricultural (including ranching) real estate located in the United States, or (2) participating in Department of Agriculture programs that are unrelated to food and safety regulatory requirements.

S 4331: Strengthen Taiwan's Security Act of 2022

Strengthen Taiwan's Security Act of 2022 This bill requires the Department of Defense (DOD) to develop, with close consultation with Taiwan's Ministry of Defense, a plan for the United States to use existing authorities to expedite military assistance to Taiwan as necessary for Taiwan to defend itself against certain military actions, such as an amphibious assault, a missile attack, or a blockade. The bill also requires DOD to report annually on the ability of the United States to support Taiwan's defense capabilities.

S 4325: Credit Union Board Modernization Act

Credit Union Board Modernization Act This bill revises the frequency of meetings required to be held by a credit union's board of directors. Specifically, the bill requires monthly meetings for new credit unions during their first five years and for credit unions with a low soundness rating. All other credit unions must hold at least six meetings annually, with at least one meeting held during each fiscal quarter. Currently, all credit union boards must meet at least once a month.

No WHO Pandemic Preparedness Treaty Without Senate Approval Act This bill establishes that any convention or agreement on pandemic-related issues reached by the World Health Assembly (WHA) pursuant to a specified negotiating body shall be deemed to be a treaty requiring the advice and consent of the Senate. Specifically, this bill applies to any international instrument negotiated by the intergovernmental negotiating body established by the WHA in December 2021 to strengthen pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response.

Border's Unused Idle and Lying Dormant Inventory Transfer Act or the BUILD IT Act This bill requires the federal government to transfer, upon request, materials associated with the construction of a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border to the governments of the states along that border (i.e., Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas). The transferred materials must be used to construct a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border.

S 4295: Financial Data Transparency Act of 2022

Financial Data Transparency Act of 2022 This bill requires federal financial regulatory agencies to adopt specified data standards with respect to format, searchability, and transparency. The bill also decreases, beginning September 30, 2031, the cap on the surplus funds of the Federal Reserve banks. (Amounts exceeding this cap are deposited in the general fund of the Treasury.) The Government Accountability Office must report on the feasibility of applying the taxonomy established by this bill to the wider federal government.

HR 6826: CTPAT Pilot Program Act of 2022

Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism Pilot Program Act of 2022 or the CTPAT Pilot Program Act of 2022 This bill requires the Department of Homeland Security to carry out a pilot program that assesses whether allowing certain entities to participate in the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) would enhance port security, combat terrorism, prevent supply chain security breaches, or otherwise satisfy the goals of CTPAT. Such entities are (1) non-asset-based third-party logistics providers that arrange international freight transportation and are licensed or bonded by specified federal agencies; or (2) asset-based third-party logistics providers that facilitate cross-border activity, are licensed or bonded by specified federal agencies, and execute logistics services using their own warehousing assets and resources. The bill requires the Government Accountability Office to report on the effectiveness of CTPAT.
