HB 5208: BEREAVEMENT LEAVE ACT

Provides that the Act may be referred to as the Zachary's Parent Protection Act. Amends the Family Bereavement Leave Act. Changes the name of the Act to the Bereavement Leave Act. Sets forth provisions concerning family bereavement leave, child extended bereavement leave, and general bereavement leave. Provides for the qualifying requirements, notice requirements, and length of leave provided under those circumstances. Provides that the bereavement leave provided under the Act is in addition to the unpaid leave time allowed under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. Provides that the Department of Labor shall review complaints to determine whether there is cause for investigation. Makes changes to definitions. Repeals the Child Extended Bereavement Leave Act. Amends the Victims' Economic Security and Safety Act and the Child Labor Law of 2024 to make conforming changes.

HB 4938: PREVAILING WAGE-VARIOUS

Amends the Prevailing Wage Act. Provides that, if a laborer, mechanic, or other worker, to whom the prevailing rate of wages is required to be paid, is classified in 2 or more trade titles for any amount of time during a day on which the individual is employed on a public works project, the individual shall receive the prevailing rate of wages that is the highest among those trade titles for all hours worked that day. Provides that a laborer, mechanic, or other worker, to whom the prevailing wage is required to be paid, may be paid at an apprentice rate of pay if the laborer is enrolled in an apprenticeship and training program. Provides for the withholding of payments for violations of the Act. Makes other changes. Effective immediately.

HB 5367: MINIMUM WAGE-VARIOUS

Amends the he Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that the wages paid to committed persons shall not be less than the minimum hourly wage set forth in the Minimum Wage Law. Amends the Minimum Wage Law. Provides for increases in the minimum hourly wage through January 1, 2032. Provides that, on and after July 1, 2026, every employer shall pay to each of his or her employees who is under 18 years of age no less than the applicable minimum hourly wage. Provides that, on and after January 1, 2030, an employer shall not be entitled to an allowance for gratuities and shall pay each employee no less than the applicable minimum hourly wage. Provides that beginning on January 1, 2033, and on every January 1 thereafter, the minimum hourly wage from the previous year shall be increased in proportion to the increase in the consumer price index-u. Provides that the Department of Labor shall inquire into any alleged violations of this Act brought to its attention by an interested party. Sets forth the procedure for complaints brought by interested parties. Defines "interested party". Effective immediately.

HB 3459: EMPLOYMENT-32 HOUR WORK WEEK

Amends the Minimum Wage Law. Provides that no employer shall employ any of his employees for a workweek of more than 32 hours (currently, 40 hours) unless such employee receives compensation for his employment in excess of the hours above specified at a rate not less than 1 1/2 times the regular rate at which he is employed. Makes a conforming change.

HB 2978: NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE LEAVE

Creates the Family Neonatal Intensive Care Leave Act. Provides that an employee of an employer with 16 or more employees and no more than 50 employees shall be entitled to use a maximum of 10 days of unpaid neonatal intensive care leave while any child of the employee is a patient in a neonatal intensive care unit. Provides that an employee of an employer with 51 or more employees shall be entitled to use 20 days of unpaid neonatal intensive care leave while a child of the employee is a patient in a neonatal intensive care unit. Provides that, upon the conclusion of leave taken under the Act, an employee shall be reinstated to his or her former position or a substantially equivalent one with no loss of benefits held or accrued prior to taking leave. Sets forth provisions concerning unlawful employer practices; Department of Labor responsibilities; and enforcement. Amends the State Finance Act to create the Neonatal Intensive Care Leave Fund.

HB 1745: CHILD LABOR-WORK HOURS

Amends the Child Labor Law of 2024. Provides that no employer shall employ, allow, or permit a minor to work more than 3 hours per day (currently, more than 3 hours per day or more than 8 hours total of work and school hours on days when school is in session). Makes changes in various provisions to limit the number of hours worked by a minor outside of school hours to 18 hours in a week (currently, 24 hours in a week).

HB 3252: SCH CD-WORK PREP COURSE

Amends the School Code. Provides that a school district that maintains any of grades 9 through 12 and offers school facilitated employment, career pathways, or internship experiences shall provide to students participating in the program (rather than may include in its high school curriculum): (1) instruction on workplace preparation that covers legal protections in the workplace; and (2) protection against sexual harassment and racial and other forms of discrimination.
