HB 2995: LATE TERM GOV APPOINTMENTS

Creates the Gubernatorial Late Term Appointment Act. Provides that when a lame duck Governor makes appointments that are confirmed by the Senate within the last 60 days of his or her term, the late term appointees serve no longer than the sixtieth day of the succeeding Governor's term. Permits the succeeding Governor to then fill those vacant appointed offices.

HB 6976: IDPH-CERVICAL CANCR TASK FORCE

Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Creates the Cervical Cancer Elimination Task Force within the Department of Public Health. Requires the task force to examine the prevalence and burden of cervical cancer, raise public awareness concerning the causes and nature of cervical cancer, identify prevention and control strategies and technologies, and perform other functions. Requires the task force to develop a statewide comprehensive cervical cancer prevention plan and to make annual reports. Provides for expiration of the task force on April 1, 2009 or upon the task force's submission of its final report, whichever is earlier.

SB 1339: CODE OF CIV PRO-CLERGY

Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Makes confessions, admissions, or communications to a clergyman or practitioner of any religious denomination privileged if: (1) the confession, admission, or communication is intended to be confidential, (2) is made directly to a member of the clergy, and (3) is such that the clergyman is bound to maintain that confidentiality pursuant to a duty under the canon law, church doctrine, practices, discipline, tenet, custom, or practice of his or her denomination. Provides that the provisions concerning clergy privilege are subject to specified reporting requirements of the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
