SB 438: RELATING TO PROFESSIONAL AND VOCATIONAL LICENSING.

Reduces the period for which an application shall be considered abandoned from two years to one year. Specifies the conditions under which applications for licenses and examinations will be deemed abandoned. Provides that the one-year period after which an application is considered abandoned cannot be extended. Provides that a licensing authority shall not be required to act on any abandoned application and that the licensing authority may destroy abandoned applications. Clarifies that an application submitted after an abandoned application shall be treated as a new application and that the applicant shall comply with any new licensing requirements in effect at the time of the new application.

SB 9: RELATING TO BOARDS OF REGISTRATION.

Requires members of each board of registration be a registered voter in the respective county of the board to which the member is appointed and remain a registered voter in that county for their term of office. Establishes methods for determining and verifying a board member's political party membership. Takes effect 1/1/2024. (SD1)

SB 487: RELATING TO STATUTORY REVISION: AMENDING OR REPEALING VARIOUS PROVISIONS OF THE HAWAII REVISED STATUTES OR THE SESSION LAWS OF HAWAII FOR THE PURPOSES OF CORRECTING ERRORS AND REFERENCES, CLARIFYING LANGUAGE, OR DELETING OBSOLETE OR UNNECESSARY PROVISIONS.

Amends or repeals various provisions of the Hawaii Revised Statutes or the Session Laws of Hawaii for the purposes of correcting errors and references, clarifying language, or deleting obsolete or unnecessary provisions.

SB 179: RELATING TO ADVISORY COMMITTEES.

Renames the statewide and county-level voters with special needs advisory committees to elections accessibility needs advisory committees. Recognizes that voting accessibility needs may arise from disabilities other than those of a physical nature.

HB 823: RELATING TO DEATHS WITHIN THE CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM.

Expands the scope of reports on correctional facility and community correctional center deaths that are submitted to the governor and legislature. Requires certain reports to be published on the department of corrections and rehabilitation website. Mandates public access to other information reported. (HD2)
