SB 228: RELATING TO FRAUD.

Establishes the offense of fraud as a class B felony. Establishes the offense of making a false, fictitious, or fraudulent claim against the State or a county as a class C felony. Establishes the offense of the use of false statements or entries in matters within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, or judicial branches of the State as a class C felony. (CD1)

SB 193: RELATING TO THE STATE FIRE COUNCIL.

Adds to the membership of the State Fire Council, and to the membership of advisory committees that the Council may appoint, representatives from the Hawaii State Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Unit and the Division of Forestry and Wildlife of the Department of Land and Natural Resources to reflect all nonfederal fire fighting agencies in the State. HB 68: RELATING TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE.

Requires that ongoing staff support for the centralized statewide criminal pretrial justice data reporting and collection system be conducted by the Criminal Justice Research Institute's staff and not be contracted to another entity. Requires the Criminal Justice Research Institute to protect any information and data that may be shared. Requires the Criminal Justice Research Institute to submit an annual report regarding the creation of the centralized statewide criminal pretrial justice data reporting and collection system to the Legislature for two years. Appropriates funds to establish a centralized statewide criminal pretrial justice data reporting and collection system pursuant to state law. (CD1)

HB 1113: RELATING TO THE DRUG AND ALCOHOL TOXICOLOGY TESTING LABORATORY.

Authorizes moneys in the state highway fund to be expended to maintain the drug and alcohol toxicology testing laboratory. Authorizes moneys in the drug and alcohol toxicology testing laboratory special fund to be administered and expended by the Department of Transportation or appropriated as a grant-in-aid to a qualifying county emergency services department to support the laboratory. Appropriates funds for the laboratory. Requires reports to the Legislature. (CD1)

SB 1232: RELATING TO THE STATE LIBRARY SYSTEM.

Authorizes the State Librarian, with approval from the Board of Education, to impose and collect rates, rents, fees, fines and charges for the use of state library facilities and revise rates, rents, fees, and charges as necessary without regard to chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes. Sunsets 6/30/2028. (CD1)
