HB 833: RELATING TO LICENSING.

Requires adult family boarding homes and private homes that provide healthcare to the elderly or disabled to be licensed by the Department of Health. Establishes fines for operating an adult residential care home, adult family boarding home or private home that provides healthcare to elderly or disabled individuals who are unrelated to the caregiver family by blood, marriage, or adoption, or hospice home without a license.

SB 1284: RELATING TO PUBLIC SAFETY.

Requires county fire departments or persons authorized by the fire departments to inspect all cargo shipping containers declared to contain legal fireworks.

SB 1265: RELATING TO CIVIL RIGHTS.

Prohibits a state agency or program or activity receiving state financial assistance from excluding from participation, denying benefits to, or discriminating against a qualified individual by reason of disability, sex, including gender identity or expression, or sexual orientation.

HB 886: RELATING TO FILIPINO VETERANS.

Requires and funds the Office of Veterans' Services to establish a Filipino Veterans Legacy Exhibit at the Honolulu International Airport.

HB 990: RELATING TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES.

Requires public retiree contributions to the EUTF to be paid through withholdings of retirement benefit amounts from the ERS. Beginning after January 1, 2018, requires the EUTF to authorize automatic electronic payments in lieu of withholdings.

SB 1242: RELATING TO TAXATION.

Changes the amount deducted from the county surcharge on state tax to reimburse the State for costs of assessment, collection, and disposition from 10% of gross proceeds to the actual costs incurred by the State. Allows counties that have established a county surcharge on state tax to permanently extend the surcharge at a lower rate of 0.25%. Allows surcharge to be used for operating costs. Allows counties that have not yet established a surcharge to do so at a rate of 0.25%.

HB 1160: RELATING TO PHYSICIAN WORKFORCE ASSESSMENT.

Enable the John A. Burns School of Medicine to continue receiving into the John A. Burns School of Medicine special fund a portion of the physician workforce assessment fee to support physician workforce assessment and planning efforts, including recruitment and retention of physicians, especially those serving rural and medically underserved areas of the State.
