HB 1400: RELATING TO SMALL CLAIMS DIVISION OF THE DISTRICT COURT.

Establishes the exclusive jurisdiction of the small claims division of the district court over cases in which the amount claimed is $1,000 or less exclusive of interest and costs. Expands the small claims division's jurisdiction over personal property cases to include any personal property worth $5,000 or less.

HB 1275: RELATING TO PRIVATE ROADS.

Requires counties to create special improvement districts in subdivisions with privately owned roads that do not have existing procedures to maintain the private roads. Prohibits the approval of new subdivisions of 10 or more residential lots unless a county can certify there are mechanisms or procedures in place to ensure the private roads are maintained adequately. Makes the county responsible for the subdivision's road maintenance if a county fails to follow certification requirements when approving subdivisions.

HB 1253: RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Require gas utility companies to establish renewable energy portfolio standard for gas. Provides means for gas utility companies to achieve the renewable energy portfolio standards for gas. Requires the public utilities commission to conduct a study of the renewable portfolio standards.

SB 1026: RELATING TO PHYSICIAN WORKFORCE ASSESSMENT.

Enable the John A. Burns School of Medicine to continue receiving into the John A. Burns School of Medicine special fund a portion of the physician workforce assessment fee to support physician workforce assessment and planning efforts, including recruitment and retention of physicians, especially those serving rural and medically underserved areas of the State.

HB 1364: RELATING TO ELECTIONS.

Requires recounts of election votes when the margin of victory is less than two hundred fifty votes or less than one per cent of the votes cast, whichever is less.

HB 1350: RELATING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT CAMERAS.

Establishes requirements for body-worn cameras and vehicle cameras for county police departments. Establishes policy guidelines for the use and discontinuance of use of body-worn cameras by police officers. Establishes certain restrictions on the use of body-worn cameras by on-duty police officers. Adds retention and deletion requirements for body-worn camera footage. Prohibits certain uses of body-worn camera video footage. Establishes violations of recording and retention requirements. Appropriates funds as a grant-in-aid to each county for the purchase of body-worn video cameras and law enforcement vehicle cameras; provided that no funds appropriated to a county shall be expended unless matched dollar-for-dollar by the county. Requires the county police departments to report costs of implementing and maintaining the body-worn camera and vehicle camera program to the legislature. Takes effect on 1/1/2018.
