HB 862: RELATING TO TRAINING.

Requires state and county department heads to take the training on native Hawaiian and Hawaiian traditional and customary rights administered by OHA.

SB 780: RELATING TO ENTERPRISE ZONES.

Expands the definition of an eligible business activity to include businesses that provide renewable energy infrastructure to agricultural producers. Extends the tax credit eligibility periods in enterprise zones for agricultural producers and for businesses providing renewable energy infrastructure to agricultural producers until the Hawaii constitutional mandate of "self-sufficiency" is fulfilled. Expands the qualifications of a qualified business to include those businesses that increase gross volume of agricultural products or gross volume of renewable energy infrastructures to agricultural producers within enterprise zones located within the same county by two percent annually. Specifies the kinds of agricultural investments that are eligible for the business tax credit.

HB 1197: RELATING TO EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS.

Appropriates funds to supply emergency, seven-day provisions of food and water for state and county firefighters while they serve at fire stations; provided that a county provides matching funds for provisions for its firefighters. (HB1197 HD1)

SB 435: RELATING TO THE OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS.

Allows the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees to appoint a deputy administrator, chief operating officer, and corporation counsel by a majority vote. Allows for their removal for cause by two-thirds vote. Clarifies that the administrator shall not employ a deputy administrator, chief operating officer, or corporation counsel.

SB 1315: RELATING TO HEALTH.

Requires all health benefits plans to include coverage for Native Hawaiian culture-based activities, including but not limited to canoe paddling, hula, and lua, that have empirically shown to be effective in the management of weight, cardiovascular health, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease.

SB 239: RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

Requires the department of agriculture to establish a two-year agricultural theft pilot project to focus on investigating and prosecuting agricultural theft and agricultural vandalism in the county of Hawaii. Appropriates funds as a grant-in-aid to the office of the prosecuting attorney, county of Hawaii, to assist in implementing the pilot project. (SD1)
