HB 334: RELATING TO LA KU`OKO`A.

Designates November 28 of each year as "La Ku`oko`a", not constituting a state holiday, to celebrate the historical recognition of independence of the Kingdom of Hawaii.

SB 695: RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Requires that all mandatory fees charged by a transient accommodation operator to a guest or resort time share vacation plan manager to an occupant be included in the gross rental or gross rental proceeds for purposes of the transient accommodations tax. Requires operators and plan managers to identify optional fees that are not subject to the transient accommodations tax to guests and occupants when rental rates and services are disclosed or discussed.

SB 543: RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Appropriates moneys for the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program to develop a communication and outreach plan for emergency management and disaster preparedness, update the Homeowner's Handbook to Prepare for Natural Hazards, and conduct education and outreach throughout the State.

HB 68: RELATING TO TAXATION.

Reallocates barrel tax revenues by increasing the distribution amounts to the environmental response revolving fund, energy security special fund, energy systems development special fund, and agricultural development and food security fund, in lieu of a distribution to the general fund.

SB 458: RELATING TO ETHICS.

Clarifies the powers and duties of the state ethics commission; increases fines for ethics violations. Restores protection for legislators when carrying out a legislative function. Clarifies what is an expenditure for lobbyists and what is considered lobbying. Amends requirements for filing statements of expenditures.

SB 303: RELATING TO INDEMNIFICATION.

Requires that if the attorney general defends against a civil action brought against a county for a negligent or wrongful act or omission by a county lifeguard who is designated to provide lifeguard services at a state beach park under an agreement between the State and that county, the State shall indemnify that county.
