SB 1222: MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL COMMISSION TO MAINTAIN AND CONTINUE THE CURRENT FEDERALLY FUNDED CHARTER SCHOOL PREKINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS.

Appropriates moneys for school year 2019-2020 to the State Public Charter School Commission to maintain and continue the current federally funded eighteen existing charter school prekindergarten classrooms that were provided for by the federal Preschool Development Grant of 2015.

SB 890: RELATING TO RENTAL HOUSING.

Amends Act 127, Session Laws of Hawaii 2016, to clarify the duties of the Special Action Team on Affordable Rental Housing and add additional members to the Special Action Team for the purpose of addressing issues related to extremely low-income household needs. Makes an appropriation.

SB 1479: RELATING TO FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY.

Establishes a bipartisan commission within the Department of Taxation to review and make recommendations on state expenditures, revenue enhancements, and tax policy. Appropriates moneys.

SB 442: RELATING TO MARIJUANA.

Authorizes the counties to adopt ordinances to legalize marijuana cultivation, possession, sale, transfer, and use, for persons over the age of twenty-one. Clarifies that medical use of cannabis laws and penal code provisions pertaining to drug and intoxicating compounds offenses do not apply to counties that have adopted ordinances legalizing marijuana and adopted administrative rules to regulate marijuana.

SB 263: RELATING TO CLIMATE CHANGE.

Requires and appropriates funds for the climate change mitigation and adaptation commission to assist state and county agencies to develop sea level rise adaptation plans and to implement climate change mitigation efforts. Appropriates funds for one full-time equivalent climate change mitigation and adaptation coordinator position.

HB 783: RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Exempts remote schools from the weighted student formula. Provides that remote schools will be funded based on categorical allotments that guarantee the funding of a minimum number of instructional and support staff positions to ensure that no less than minimum course requirements are maintained. Defines "remote school". Appropriates funds.
