A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 2 of Title 21 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to elections and primaries generally, so as to provide for the Secretary of State to establish a grant program, subject to appropriations, to assist counties with offsetting half of the cost associated with special elections to fill state or federal offices; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
This resolution proposes dedicating the intersection of State Route 92 and Sweetwater Church Road in Paulding County as the "Zander Trayvon Whatley Memorial Intersection" to honor an 11-year-old boy who died tragically in 2024. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to install and maintain signage at that location. The resolution also requires distributing copies to Zander's family and the DOT. If enacted, it would create a permanent memorial at this specific intersection. The measure is currently pending in the Georgia House.
