Division of Labor Standards; Creating the Division of Labor Standards within the Department of Commerce for specified purposes; revising the protected rights of an employee; authorizing and providing the division certain powers to conduct investigations, issue citations, enforce and collect judgments by certain means, and partner with other entities for enforcement and education outreach; creating the Division of Labor Standards Community Advisory Board within the Division of Labor Standards, etc.
Luggage for Children Placed in Out-of-home Care; Citing this act as the “Fostering with Dignity Act”; requiring the Department of Children and Families to provide certain children with luggage for certain purposes; requiring the department to collaborate with certain entities and pursue strategic partnerships for specified purposes; authorizing the department to solicit and accept gifts, grants, and donations from any source for certain purposes, etc.
Blue Ribbon Projects; Requiring that a development project meet certain requirements to qualify as a blue ribbon project; providing maximum residential density and nonresidential intensity permitted within the development area of a blue ribbon project; requiring a blue ribbon project to have a blue ribbon plan; requiring a project to receive dollar-for-dollar credits from a local government under certain circumstances, etc.
Initiating a Property Insurance Interstate Compact; Requiring the Commissioner of Insurance Regulation to initiate a compact with other states to establish a national risk pool for property insurance for natural disasters for a specified purpose; requiring the commissioner, as soon as feasible, to enter into the compact with a minimum number of member states, etc.
Department of Transportation Contractor Liability; Providing that a contractor is considered an agent of the state in certain circumstances; requiring contract documents to indemnify the department for liability caused by the negligence of the contractor or its employees, etc.
Advertisement of a Harmful Vaccine; Defining the term “advertise”; providing manufacturer liability under certain circumstances; authorizing an individual to file a cause of action under certain circumstances within a specified timeframe, etc.
Alternative Judicial Sales Procedures; Requiring the court to direct the clerk of an alternative auctioneer to sell real or personal property under an order or final judgment at public sale; prohibiting the court in a foreclosure action from approving a request from a party to substantially deviate from specified judicial sales procedures unless certain conditions are met; requiring the clerk to conduct a sale according to specified provisions under specified circumstances; requiring the court to set forth in writing any deviation authorized in the final judgment of foreclosure or other order, etc.
State Lotteries; Revising the powers and duties of the Department of the Lottery; revising the information required to be provided to the department by persons who submit a bid, a proposal, or an offer to negotiate a contract for major procurement; authorizing the Division of Security’s sworn law enforcement officers to purchase and present lottery tickets to a lottery retailer to claim a prize under certain circumstances; prohibiting certain false claims relating to state lottery tickets, etc.
Fraternal Order of Police License Plate; Deleting a restriction on who may be issued the Fraternal Order of Police license plate; revising the distribution and use of annual use fees collected from sales of the Fraternal Order of Police license plate, etc.
SB 406 prohibits carrying weapons or firearms in specific locations, including schools (elementary/secondary and college facilities), courthouses, police stations, polling places, government meetings, and certain areas of bars.
