Restitution for Juvenile Offenses; Requires child's parent or guardian to be responsible for restitution for damage or loss caused by child's offense; authorizes court to establish payment plan; revises provisions concerning when child's parent or guardian may be absolved of liability for restitution in certain circumstances; provides DCF, foster parents, & specified facilities & agencies are not considered parents or guardians for purposes of restitution.
Evictions During Emergency Conditions; Prohibits sheriff from serving or executing writ of possession until specified time on certain premises that are under hurricane watch or hurricane warning; tolls notice period for writ of possession issued on certain premises that are under hurricane watch or hurricane warning.
Landlords and Tenants; Revising the definition of the term “tenant”; providing requirements for rental agreements; requiring landlords to provide certain information with rental agreements; prohibiting a landlord from evicting a tenant or terminating a rental agreement because the tenant or the tenant’s minor child is a victim of actual or threatened domestic violence, dating violence, sexual violence, or stalking, etc.
Landlords and Tenants; Deleting a provision providing that the failure to pay rent into a registry of the court under certain circumstances constitutes an absolute waiver of certain defenses and entitles the landlord to a certain default judgment, etc.
Searches of Cellular Phones and Other Electronic Devices; Revises exceptions to conduct that constitutes unlawful access to stored communications; authorizes investigative or law enforcement officer to apply for warrant, rather than order, authorizing real-time location tracking; authorizes extensions; provides for requiring completion of any installation authorized by warrant within certain timeframe; provides requirements for engaging in real-time location tracking; specifies when real-time location tracking must terminate; provides for acquisition of historical location data in certain circumstances.
