Vehicle dealers: document processing charge.
What changed between versions
The maximum document processing charge a dealer may collect above the base $85/$70 thresholds is reduced from $350 to $260, subject to the 1% of vehicle price limit.
In the new post-2031 version of Section 11713.1, the required advertisement disclosure language no longer specifies a dollar cap for the document processing charge; it simply states 'any dealer document processing charge' without a fixed amount.
A sunset provision is added: Section 4456.5 (document processing charges) and Section 11713.1 (dealer advertising rules) will both be repealed as of January 1, 2031.
New replacement versions of Section 4456.5 and Section 11713.1 are added to the Vehicle Code, each becoming operative on January 1, 2031, to replace the sunsetting provisions.
