The new center is required to serve as a resource for community colleges on climate change education, build clear pathways to certificates/degrees/employment, enhance partnerships with nonprofits for internships, explore preapprenticeships and apprenticeships in green sectors, partner on workforce training for energy grid greening, and develop an annual urban climate change and sustainability conference.
The center must consult with relevant faculty and administrative groups of the California Community Colleges, California State University, and University of California (including their Academic Senates and the Intersegmental Committee) when developing climate change educational pathways.
The sunset date for the neighborhood council teleconferencing authorization in Government Code Section 54953.8 is shortened from January 1, 2031 to January 1, 2030, reducing the remaining effective period by one year.
