Amends Section 1950.5 to prohibit landlords from charging additional security exceeding 15% of one month's rent due to a common household pet in the premises.
Defines 'common household pet' as domestic dogs (excluding hybrids with wolves, coyotes, or jackals) and domestic cats (excluding hybrids with ocelots or margays).
Both the pet rent cap and pet security deposit cap apply only to rental agreements entered into or renewed on or after January 1, 2027.
The bill's scope expanded from a single nonsubstantive title change to the Mobilehome Residency Law to a comprehensive tenant protection measure covering pet-related rent and security deposit limits across all residential real property, while retaining the original mobilehome title fix as a separate section.
