The office heading is clarified from 'the office of the Governor's Tribal Advisor, Office of Tribal Affairs, which shall be headed by the Governor's Tribal Advisor. Secretary of Tribal Affairs' to simply 'the Office of Tribal Affairs, which shall be headed by the Secretary of Tribal Affairs.' All references throughout the section are updated to use only 'Secretary of Tribal Affairs' instead of the combined title.

The requirement for where tribal liaisons must be placed is broadened. The introduced version required placement in the executive office reporting directly to the chief executive of the state agency. The amended version allows placement in the executive office reporting to the chief executive, OR in a position reporting directly to the chair or chief executive of the state agency, department, board, or commission, as applicable. This accommodates agencies led by boards or commissions with chairs rather than single chief executives.

A likely drafting error was introduced: 'government-to-government relations' became 'government-to-government relations relations' in subsection (c)(3), duplicating the word 'relations.'
