Sales and use Taxes: collection.
Summary
The Sales and Use Tax Law imposes a tax on retailers measured by the gross receipts from the sale of tangible personal property sold at retail in this state or on the storage, use, or other consumption in this state of tangible personal property purchased from a retailer for storage, use, or other consumption in this state. Existing law requires every retailer engaged in business in this state and making sales of tangible personal property for storage, use, or other consumption in this state, not otherwise exempt, at the time of making the sales or at the time the storage, use, or other consumption becomes taxable, to collect the tax from the purchaser and give to the purchaser a receipt, as provided. This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to that provision.
