AB 980 California Assembly · 2021-2022 Regular Session

Employment Development Department: claim information.

Summary
Existing law establishes in the Labor and Workforce Development Agency the Employment Development Department, which is charged with various functions, including job creation activities, computation of benefits, and determination of contribution rates and collection of contributions for benefits. Existing law provides for the payment of unemployment compensation benefits to eligible persons who are unemployed through no fault of their own through a federal-state unemployment insurance program administered by the Employment Development Department. Existing law requires the Director of Employment Development to make available, from September 4, 2020, to July 1, 2021, on the department's internet website, in addition to the information currently provided on the department's Unemployment Insurance Data Dashboard, specified information about unique unemployment insurance claims. This bill would require the department, using the online portals provided via the department's internet website, to make available to an employer and update a list, as provided, of claimants approved to receive benefits from that employer.
