Wildfire mitigation plans: fire retardants.
Summary
Existing law requires the State Fire Marshal to establish minimum standard requirements and adopt rules and regulations to regulate the manufacture, sale, and application of flame-retardant chemicals. Existing law requires electrical corporations and local publicly owned electric utilities to annually prepare wildfire mitigation plans, as specified. This bill would expressly authorize a wildfire mitigation plan to include the use of fire-retardant chemicals approved by the State Fire Marshal on a planned basis for wildfire mitigation and risk management.
