Voters: registration.
Summary
Existing law governs the conduct of statewide and local elections and sets forth provisions governing the registration of voters. Existing law requires that a person be a United States citizen, a resident of California, not imprisoned for the conviction of a felony, and at least 18 years of age at the time of the next election in order to be eligible to register to vote. Existing law authorizes a person to prove they are a United States citizen by signing a certification on the affidavit of registration, as specified. Existing law provides that the certification of citizenship is evidence of citizenship for voting purposes only. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to the latter provision.
