County jail financing.
Summary
Existing law authorizes the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, participating counties, and the State Public Works Board (SPWB) to acquire, design, and construct local jail facilities, approved by the Board of State and Community Corrections. Existing law authorizes the SPWB to issue revenue bonds, notes, or bond anticipation notes to finance the acquisition, design, and construction of approved county jails or adult local criminal justice facilities under this program in the amount of $840,445,397. The funds derived from those revenue bonds, notes, or bond anticipation notes are continuously appropriated for the purposes described above. This bill would decrease the amount of revenue bonds, notes, or anticipation notes that the SPWB may issue for this program to $740,445,397, as specified, thereby making an appropriation. This bill would declare that it is to take effect immediately as a bill providing for appropriations related to the Budget Bill.
