The Alfred E. Alquist Seismic Safety Commission: membership.
Summary
Existing law establishes the Alfred E. Alquist Seismic Safety Commission as a separate unit within the Office of Emergency Services to, among other things, monitor and track the activities and responsibilities of various governmental agencies related to earthquake preparedness and seismic safety and to develop findings and recommendations to reduce losses and to speed recovery following a destructive earthquake. Existing law requires the commission to include representatives from the fields of structural engineering, planning, fire protection, public utilities, insurance, social services, emergency services, and other local government areas that serve the public interest. This bill would also require the members of the commission to represent the field of developmental disability services.
