Motor vehicle inspection program: license fees: smog checks.
Summary
Existing law provides the Department of Consumer Affairs with the sole and exclusive authority within the state for developing and implementing the motor vehicle inspection program. Existing law requires the department, as part of the program, to impose annual license fees for smog check stations and biennial license fees for smog check technicians, which shall not exceed the reasonable cost of administering the qualifications and licensing program. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.
