California State University, Dominguez Hills: Dymally Fellows Project.

Existing law establishes the California State University, under the administration of the Trustees of the California State University, as one of the segments of public postsecondary education in this state. The California State University comprises 23 institutions of higher education throughout the state, one of which is the California State University, Dominguez Hills. Upon appropriation by the Legislature, this bill would require the university to establish the Dymally Fellows Project, to be operated out of the Mervyn M. Dymally African American Political and Economic Institute at the California State University, Dominguez Hills, to provide academic and leadership skills to high school pupils and community college students residing in specified geographic areas located near the campus. This bill would make legislative findings and declarations as to the necessity of a special statute for certain communities in South Los Angeles County surrounding the California State University, Dominguez Hills.
