AB 370 California Assembly · 2019-2020 Regular Session

Physicians and surgeons: forms: fee limitations.

Summary
Existing law, the Medical Practice Act, provides for the licensure and regulation of the practice of medicine by physicians and surgeons. Existing law establishes the Medical Board of California within the Department of Consumer Affairs to enforce the licensing and regulatory provisions in the act. Existing law provides that a violation of specified provisions of the act is a crime. This bill would limit the amount that a physician and surgeon licensee may charge a patient for filling out medical forms, including applications for state disability insurance, to a reasonable fee, based on the actual time and cost for filling out the form, as specified. The bill would provide that a violation of these provisions is not a crime.
