Local workforce development boards.

The California Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act establishes the California Workforce Development Board, which is responsible for assisting the Governor in the development and continuous improvement of California's workforce investment system. That act requires the local chief elected officials in a local workforce development area to form, pursuant to specified guidelines established by the Governor and the board, a local workforce development board to, among other things, plan and oversee the workforce development system and develop and submit to the Governor a comprehensive 4-year local workforce investment plan that is consistent with the state plan, as specified. This bill would require a local workforce development board, working in collaboration with community college districts and local school districts, to develop a communications plan to highlight and disseminate information on regional apprenticeship programs and career technical opportunities, upon appropriation by the Legislature for that purpose.
