Private security services: firearms requalification.
Summary
Existing law, the Private Security Services Act, requires an employee of a licensed private patrol operator who wishes to renew a firearms qualification card to file an application for renewal with the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services and satisfy other conditions including successfully passing a written examination based on course content as specified in the firearms training manual approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs and taught at a training facility approved by the bureau. Existing law specifies that the firearms requalification course shall consist of the successful completion of a firearms requalification course approved by the bureau. This bill would permit the bureau to authorize a firearms training facility to teach a portion of the firearms requalification course via the internet. The bill would also make other conforming and nonsubstantive changes.
