Pet insurance: disclosures.
Summary
Existing law generally regulates classes of insurance, including pet insurance. Existing law requires an insurer transacting pet insurance to disclose specified information to consumers, including policy exclusions, a waiting or affiliation period, a deductible, coinsurance, or an annual or lifetime policy limit. This bill would require an insurer to include a written disclosure at the time a pet insurance policy is issued or delivered to a policyholder. The bill would require the disclosure to be printed in 12-point boldface type and to include, among other things, specified contact information for the Department of Insurance and for the insurer or the agent or broker of record.
