AB 1503 California Assembly · 2019-2020 Regular Session

Distributed energy and microgrids: policies: report.

Summary
Existing law requires the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) , by February 1 of each year, to report to the Governor and the Legislature on recommendations for a smart grid, the plans and deployment of smart grid technologies by the state's electrical corporations, and the costs and benefits to ratepayers. This bill would require in the report due on February 1, 2022, that the PUC also describe workforce opportunities in the areas of distributed energy and microgrids, including emerging energy jobs and professions and the costs and benefits to the ratepayers. The bill would require the PUC to collaborate with the Labor and Workforce Development Agency in the development of this section of the report.
